Fruits of the Valley Trail

This relaxing and scenic "wine lovers" wagon trail combines a range of taste sensations including locally produced ice-creams, nougat, extra virgin olive oils, dukkah, seasonal fresh and dried fruits, fresh home-made local produce, premium wines as well as superb fortified wines and port, combined with exciting and scenic off-road vineyard and lakeside trailing and treasured colonial history.

Departing from the Wagon Trails Base located at 12001 West Swan Road (only 100 metres north of Gnangara Road) in Henley Brook, our trail will meander leisurely north to encounter our first taste of exciting off-road trailing.

Relax and enjoy scenic vineyard and lakeside trailing through the natural bird sanctuary (Lake Yakine) - offering the opportunity to view majestic pelican and our State's own emblem, the graceful Black Swan, in their natural habitat.

Our first visit will be Edgecombe Bros (established 1925) to enjoy an amazing range of local specialities......

Let's begin with a new experience for many of our guests - an informative presentation including the comparative tasting of local quality fresh extra virgin olive oils together with locally produced dukkah.

You'll enjoy delicious fresh local home-made produce, eg   jams,  pickles,  relishes,  sauces,  100% natural honey, seasonal fruits including citrus fruits, melons and famous Swan Valley dried fruits.

The Edgecombe Bros are just so well known for their fresh asparagus varieties- both green asparagus and the very unusual purple asparagus.

Of course, you'll also enjoy premium wine tasting at Edgecombe Bros and an opportunity to meet Alfred Edgecombe, an accomplished winemaker and Swan Valley personality.

To add some interest to our wine appreciation, we include a lesson in the Art and Technique of Wine Tasting.

At certain times of the year, passengers will enjoy the opportunity to view, touch and "taste" fruit straight from the vines.   By arrangement only, passengers and/or groups may also enjoy "fruit picking" of seasonal produce.

Share the treasured history of our early pioneers during a personal commentary relating to one of our state's most historic sites.....Western Australia's oldest church - All Saints Church

Our morning tasting sessions will be complemented with
an a-la-carte lunch featuring home-made Italian cuisine at the picturesque and fully licensed Valley View Restaurant.
Lunch will also include self-serve tea and percolated coffee.

Passengers may bring along Swan Valley wines purchased during the morning as
Valley View Restaurant have kindly waived all corkage.

Following lunch the wagon trail will visit Maalinup Gallery and Gift Shop to enjoy a journey into the indigenous culture which is so richly captured in the Swan Valley.    Guests will have the opportunity to learn the technique required to throw a boomerang,  the background to traditional tools,  listen to dream time stories,  play a didgeridoo as well as discover the beauty of hand crafted glassware,  jewellery pieces and many other items suitable as souvenirs or unique gifts.

Maalinup Gallery also caters for those intrigued with "bush tucker" and traditional foods.

Chances are you may meet an awarded local artist like Primus Ugle...

Leaving Maalinup Gallery.....

Our next stop will excite the taste buds at the Swan Valley's independent ice creamery - Oggie's Ice Cream Cafe & English Lolly Shop

Our trail will meander deep into the heart of the vineyards to visit Charlie's Estate Wines and Nougat to taste fresh nougat and of course sample the extensive range of wines on offer.

During the trail you will experience a rare opportunity to personally meet and chat with the winemakers whilst tasting premium wines.
